Australian Rio Tinto said it has decided to postpone the investment in the new Silvergrass iron ore project in Pilbara, Australia and will not restart until the third quarter of 2015 at the earliest, with plans to invest billions of dollars. Rio Tinto, however, said it will still achieve its goal of increasing the annual capacity of iron ore in Pilbara to 330 million t by 2015 and further to 350 million t by 2017 by expanding its existing capacity and boosting productivity. Rio Tinto plans to reduce its operating and exploration costs by a total of 5.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2015, when the annual production capacity of Pilbara Iron Ore will expand to 3.6 in the future
