一九五一年一月南京市太平天国起義百年紀念展覽會,徵集各文教單位及藏書家有關太平天國文物陳列展覽;共收文獻五百種,其中原稿本、鈔本、稿本、多有向所未見的。這年八月,展覽會閉幕後,復組織編纂委員會,由陳山胡小石賀昌群羅爾綱鄭鹤聲關吉罡朱偰任委員,而由太平天國史專家羅爾綱負責主持,並與北京中國史學會合作,史會編的作爲正編,已於一九五二年秋由神州國光社出版,該會所編的作為績編,計一年以来,所選錄的太平軍人手寫本、原稿本、檔案、鈔本、以及孤本,善本已一百六十餘萬言。現在正大力進行工作,預定一九五三年八月可以編成。惟該會為求内容更加充實,材料更加豐富起見,深恐珍聞秘籍,未能錄入,刻徵求凡各地圖書館、藏書家、藏有該项史料者,盼逕與該會聯系,以便編入,該會通信處為南京成賢街南京圖書館内。
