To anticipate the impact of embankments along river banks on vector-borne diseases under the Bangladeshi government’s flood relief program, the authors conducted a mosquito survey in the flood plains of Bangladesh from October 1991 to November 1992. In the western, central and eastern parts of the flood plains, three villages were selected as survey sites. Once a month, mosquito larvae are collected between 08:00 and 13:00, and water bodies in the village and adjacent villages are inspected.
