Normal female hair abnormalities are considered to be a familial abnormality due to the normal endogenous androgen genetic allergy of the hair follicle sebaceous glands. Hamilton has emphasized that the anomaly is racially related, and that some ethnicities tend to have a more pronounced face than women, even in women. However, it has been reported that there is no difference between androgens in this blood of different races. The circulating androgens may or may not affect the hormone environment of the hair follicles, as it has been found that the skin and its appendages themselves may be an endocrine organ. The synthesis and metabolism of androgens in the skin may be the most important factor that causes hairyness in some individuals, as this is a localized process that can not be attributed to increased plasma androgen levels. In other individuals, normal androgen circulation, which may be accompanied by reduced or absent hair, is due to disorders of the peripheral organs such as androgen insensitivity syndrome (testicular feminization).
