在不久前刚刚结束的国际数学家大会上,中科院院士、北京大学教授丁伟岳应邀作了45分钟报告。会议组织邀请的1小时大会报告和45分钟报告,因代表了近期数学科学中最重大的成果与进展而受到高度重视。丁伟岳是在几何分析这一当代基础数学的前沿领域中,对许多重要而困难的课题做出了令人瞩目的成绩的。他在北京国际数学家大会上作了45分钟邀请报告,这是一个很高的荣誉,因为它表明报告者是当今非常活跃的数学家,而且他的研究在国际上有很大影响。而平时就谦逊、淡泊、不喜欢抛头露面的丁伟岳在这份荣誉面前很平静:“与国际先进水平相比,我做得还很不够。”
At the International Mathematicians Conference just concluded not long ago, Professor Ding Weiyue, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Peking University, was invited to make a 45-minute report. The one-hour conference report and the 45-minute report invited by the conference organization are highly valued because they represent the most significant achievements and progress in the recent mathematical sciences. Ding Weiyue made remarkable achievements in many important and difficult topics in the frontier field of geometric analysis, the basic mathematics of the present age. He gave a 45-minute invitation report at the Beijing International Mathematicians Conference.
