The “phase” word in Su Shi’s “Shi Zhong Shan Ji” “Breeze Gulang, Shuishi Xiang Bo, Sheng Ru Hong Zhong” is not annotated in the text. Some reference books interpret the “phase” word as “mutually”. Some teachers also say so. . This is inappropriate. The word “phase” has many interpretations in ancient Chinese. The “phase” word here only serves to syllable and make the sentence harmonious. If you translate “phase” into “mutual”. That is “water and stone fighting each other”. Water Strike Stone can, but “stone water” cannot speak. Besides removing the word “phase”, “water stone stroke” is also a single sentence and does not affect the composition of the sentence. Therefore, the word “phase” here does not mean “mutually speaking”, but only syllables. Plays the role of lining.
