早在20世纪下半叶,就有很多科学家一再提出警告:世界能源的危机必将在21世纪出现。如何解救这一全球性的危机,当年科学家作出了种种设想,但一直没有定论。目前全世界广泛使用的传统能源,主要是石油、煤炭、天然气,此外还有水能、风能、太阳能等等。即使不计入化工原料所需,仅按眼下世界能源消耗水平来测算,石油、煤炭、天然气等最多只能再用上六七十年就会彻底枯竭。到那时靠水力、风力是远远不能满足全世界工农业生产和人民生活对能源的所需。石油、煤炭、天然气实质上是亿万年前地球储存
