The crisis that the global economy hit in 2008 is ostensibly determined by the economic crisis triggered by the debt crisis in the financial markets in Europe and the United States, but it is essentially determined by the inherent contradictions in the operation of the market economy (or the fundamental contradiction in the capitalist mode of production). How can we really get out of the crisis and avoid similar turmoil in the future? We can not just analyze the appearance of the crisis, but must analyze it from the essence of economic operation. This paper argues that wealth is a kind of social power. The expansion of the fictitious economy is the process of such power gathering. The economic crisis is caused by the over-expansion of such power beyond the limits of the natural environment and human society. Studying the economic crisis with this perspective can deeply study the “one man” relationship in the current economic operation, and then explain the current global economic crisis in essence and provide policy suggestions for getting out of the crisis.
