The construction site is located in the former site of the Osaka World Expo in 1970. It is adjacent to the same Japanese garden on the north side and is an artificial lake on the south side. In order to maintain continuity with the surrounding natural environment, the height of the museum is considered suitable for the lower level. This building includes four main functions: research, data management, exhibitions, and collections. Each of these four functions has its own independent horizontal organization and is linked to each other through the center shaft. Such a basic system not only enables the most effective interaction between each function, but also allows the building to maintain its work in the future expansion.
