在南开大学中文系,有这样一件事:20世纪60年代初,著名学者李何林先生任系主任时,某次迎斯会上,一位新生问白发苍苍的李先生:“你几岁?”引得众位师生侧目而视。这个学生初到北方,不懂得普通话中,只有成人向孩子才这样发问。没想到,就在前几天,这种事竟又被我碰上了。那天我到北京某大医院看急诊,大夫是个20多岁的姑娘,一听说话就知道是在京城长大的。各项检查做得都很仔细,病历也写得规范,可是突然间听她问道:“你几岁?”我心里“格登”一下子,正琢磨着是不是悄悄“教导”她一下,只听她又向下一位70多岁的老者发问了,还是“你几岁?”
