茅迪芳,中国著名舞蹈编导家,新中国成立后第一批被公派留学舞蹈专业的四名学生之一;八十年代,她分别以著名舞蹈编导、中国杰出妇女的身份分别被收录进入《中国艺术家辞典》、《中外著名妇女辞典》;由她作为舞蹈编导的大型歌舞音乐电影《阿诗玛》获得国际电影节舞蹈片大奖;电视连续剧《西游记》舞蹈、《赶摆》、《吉祥天女(即“千手观音”原作)》、《绣金匾》、《阿佤人民唱新歌》、《青年友谊圆舞曲》、《景颇刀舞》等等,其创作的近百余部舞蹈作品获得全国、全军奖项并流传至今;茅迪芳亲自发掘培养出:著名傣族舞蹈家刀美兰、著名白族舞蹈家杨丽萍等,桃李满园硕果累累。
