华南震旦系下限应下移,包括上下板溪群和与其相当的地层。自下而上可分为“四堡统”、“板溪统”、“(?)岭统”和“峡东统”四个统。以蓟县震旦系剖面为我国震旦系标准,南北方震旦系可以对比,南方的下面三个统分别与蓟县剖面的长城统、蓟县统、青白口统相当,“峡东统”在蓟县地区缺失。震旦纪在江南地背斜范围内形成过古岛弧,并有古海沟的发育。
