在人类历史上,杂技艺术同其他门类艺术一样,始终是随着社会的发展而发展的,从人类有了劳动就开始有了杂技艺术。纵观我国杂技艺术的发展中历史,从远古杂技再到汉唐百戏到明清社火到近代杂技,无不受到上层建筑和意识形态的影响。因此,整个社会的发展,推动和决定着杂技艺术发展的总趋势,这也是杂技艺术发展的总趋势,也是杂技艺术发展的一条总规律,而历史继承性又是杂技艺术发展的自身规律。同时杂技艺术的发展还受到其他各门类艺术的影响。
