In the early 1980s, Lin Qian met a Japanese publisher during a Sino-Japanese cultural exchange. The publisher picked up the Chinese version of the popular book produced by Lin Qian and flipped it over and inadvertently said: “This is not a book in Japan.” The words are soothing but deeply hurt Lin However, he was speechless: Compared with popular books published by developed countries in the world, Chinese popular science books are too simple from paper, printing and editing.
