谢觉哉(1884—1971),湖南宁乡人,1925年加入中国共产党,在革命战争年代立下了不朽功勋,在人民群众中享有崇高的威望。他与董必武、林伯渠、吴玉章、徐特立被并称为“延安五老”。新中国建立后,他先后担任中央人民政府首任内务部长、最高人民法院院长、全国政协副主席。他一生致力于司法制度的建立与完善,为新中国法规的制订倾注了大量心血,特别是在公正执法、严肃执法和科学执法方面颇有建树。
Xie Juezai (1884-1971), Ningxiang, Hunan Province, joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1925 and established immortal feats in the revolutionary war era, enjoying a high prestige among the people. He and Dong Biwu, Lin Boqu, Wu Yuzhang, Xu Teli is also known as “Yan'an five old.” After the founding of New China, he served successively as the first minister of the Central People's Government, the president of the Supreme People's Court, and the vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee. Throughout his life, he devoted himself to establishing and perfecting the judicial system, devoting a great deal of painstaking efforts to the formulation of laws and regulations in the People's Republic of China, especially in the areas of just law enforcement, serious law enforcement and scientific law enforcement.
