1995年6月出版的当期《IEEE Spectrum》刊出了介绍1995年IEEE荣誉奖章获得者事迹的一组文章。其中之一介绍了Currie等11位知名工程师、教师和企业家,本文照单全收,只是在文字上作了一些删节。另一篇则专讲查德教授在创建并确立其模糊集理论的30年中的不顺畅历程。由于这个理论曾对我国有关学(技)术界产生过相类似的影响,所以多写了一些,但节略颇多。 《IEEE Spectrum》月刊是拥有32万会员的IEEE的诸多极具权威性的出版物之一,除了定期寄赠其每一会员之外,只留出约8万份供世界各地图书资料收藏部门订阅,一般不向个人零售。
