In the spring of the new millennium, Xinhua News Agency issued a power-cut draft on “Tengchong volcano did not die.” The geologists at Peking University have been tracking and monitoring the Tengchong volcano since the 1970s Inspected They observed some anomalies in the Tengchong volcano in Yunnan Province: There is still intense hydrothermal activity around the volcanoes, with geothermal and hot springs spread all over the place. The combination of gases escaped from these springs has the typical gassing nature of later volcanic activity, which indicates that the Tengchong volcano still has subsurface magmatic activities. So, with curiosity about nature, we traveled 800 kilometers westward from Kunming across the Xe’er River, the Lancang River, the Nu River and the Longchuanjiang River to climb Gaoligongshan, where the bustling and lush greenery came, to Tengchong, the southwest border of the motherland.
