The Indian Coffee Board lowered the estimated 2013/01 production of coffee to 311,500 t, down 35,500 t (10.23%) from the estimated 347,000 t after the flowering period. At the same time, this figure is lower than the 318,000 t of coffee production in 2012/13. India’s coffee bureau amended its previous forecast to reduce the risk of disastrous coffee-producing areas in the main planting area of Karnataka in November. The continuous rainfall from July to September is also the main reason for the normal crop growth in the main producing areas.
