The new method of calculating reservoir average formation pressure is based on the classical Muscat curve. At present, some methods for calculating average reservoir pressure require early reservoir information and assume that the reservoir is a homogeneous reservoir, or using empirical extrapolation. The new method can be applied to heterogeneous reservoirs and does not require data on reservoir and fluid properties. Its principle is calculated using the first eigenvalue of the pressure derivative in an unstable state.
