新疆为长日照地区,气候偏寒冷。甜菜主产地石河子和昌吉地区年平均气温为摄氏6度,无霜期150天左右。年降水量为125~300毫米,蒸发量为1300~1880毫米,由于干旱,甜菜生产全靠灌溉。土壤均不同程度含盐碱。这些条件有利于甜菜的生长和糖分的积累,适宜建立甜菜生产基地。但是近十多年来,新疆国营农场甜菜种植面积一直在二十至三十万亩之间徘徊,单产低,总产不稳。甜菜单产低、劳动生产率更低的关键是甜菜生产现代化水平太低。我认为甜菜生产现代化应包括良种化、栽培技术科学化和生
