从1985年开始,旧家具自广州等地大量流出大陆,南方商人纷纷北上找货,古家具价格暴涨。张德祥将这种情况告诉了王世襄先生并带他私下看了几家倒爷的家具库房,建议王先生提请有关部门加强管理。于是王先生给国家文物局写了一份报告,之后,文物局下文并派人赶赴广州,各方协力阻止高档古典家具的外流。这才暂时挡住了这股潮流。
