葛洪的书法作品体现着他的道教神仙信仰。在字形上,字体飘逸、灵动,有不受羁勒束缚的势态;在用笔上体现出古拙自然、抱朴守真的追求;在意境上渴望一种超然仙趣、虚无飘渺的神仙境界。葛洪是一位名副其实的书法家,尤善大字。宋代米芾曾在《书史·海岳名言》中写到:“葛洪‘云台之观’飞白,为大字之冠,古今第一。”《书法大辞典》“书家”之列亦有葛洪。
