吉林市是中国著名的历史文化名城。由于吉林市的地理位置十分重要,可“远逃长白,近绕松花,扼三省之要冲,为两京(盛京,即沈阳;兴京,即辽宁新宾)之屏障。”所以在清朝就是松花江、黑龙江、乌苏里江等东北广大地区的政治、经济、军事中心。民国年间,吉林市是省城的所在地,全国惟一一个以省内著名古城命名的省就是吉林省。
Jilin City is a famous historical and cultural city in China. As the geographical position of Jilin City is very important, it can “escape Changbai and close the Songhua flower and straighten out the important impulse of the three provinces to provide a barrier for Beijing (Shengjing, namely Shenyang; Xingjing, Liaoning Xinbin).” Therefore, in the Qing Dynasty, Songhua River, Heilongjiang, Wusuli River and other large areas of northeast China’s political, economic and military center. During the Republic of China, Jilin City was the capital of the provincial capital. The only province in the country named after the famous ancient city in the province was Jilin Province.
