中国科学院研究人员联合从恶臭假单胞菌菌株4G-1中分离到一个耐草甘膦基因PpAroA1(EPSPS)。这个基因对除草剂草甘膦有与转基因作物相同的耐受性。已知AroA基因有两类,大多数商业化耐草甘膦转基因作物表达的是来自于农杆菌CP4的Ⅱ型AroA。然而,系统发生学分析表明,PpAroA1与其他的假单胞菌属AroA进化关系很远,序列相似性仅28%,不属于AroA的任何一类。研究人员认为,这个基因可能来自于其他种属细菌基因的水平转移。
Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) jointly isolated a glyphosate tolerant gene PpAroA1 (EPSPS) from Pseudomonas putida strain 4G-1. This gene has the same tolerance to the herbicide glyphosate as the transgenic crop. Two classes of AroA genes are known and most commercial glyphosate tolerant transgenic plants express type II AroA from Agrobacterium CP4. However, phylogenetic analysis showed that PpAroA1 was evolved distantly from other Pseudomonas species AroA with a sequence similarity of only 28%, not belonging to any of AroA. The researchers believe that this gene may be derived from other species of bacterial gene transfer level.
