在距金寨县城7公里,209省道旁有一所村级小学,她就是金寨教育的一颗璀璨明珠——马店小学。马店小学始建于1948年,由过去私塾改造而成。学校位于响洪甸水库上游,坐落在大山脚下,青山环抱,景色宜人。一进校园,一股清新、自然之气扑面而来,校园内绿树、山花聚散分布自然,到处充满着生机,洋溢着快乐。学校现有13名教师,在校学生240余名。近年来,学校先后被授予“教学工作先进单位”、县级“家教名校”、“示范留守儿童之家”等光荣称号。校园处处是教育。著名的教育家苏霍姆林斯基曾经说过:
