由权威研究机构编撰并发布年度分析报告,已成为国内外不少产业门类的一种不成文的制度,但我国新闻出版业至今在这方面仍属空白。为了填补这一空白,更为了全方位审视、总结过去一年出版业发展的状况,总结分析取得的成绩及经验和改革中存在的问题,预测下一年的发展趋势,为出版行政管理部门及编印发生产部门提供一个可靠的年度发展分析报告,为国内外相关行业、部门及有关人士了解我国出版业状况及发展趋势提供一份可资借鉴的材料,中国出版科学研究所组织了有关科研人员,总结分析了新闻出版业2002年度发展状况,并预测了2003年出版业发展趋势,现将报告全文刊发,以飨读者。嗣后,还要补充相关科研课题成果报告,编撰成册,以蓝皮书形式向社会发布,请业内同仁注意。同时,进行这种分析和预测,对中国出版科学研究所来讲,尚属初次,因而报告本身在分析的深入性、准确性以及有关数据方面,存在着的一些不足和缺项,也请给予理解。
