The formation of brain tissue edema around the hematoma after intracerebral hemorrhage is an important factor of secondary brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage. There are still many mechanisms for the formation of brain edema to be clarified. Studies confirm that the formation of edema involves hematoma metabolites such as iron ions, heme, CO and other toxic effects.
