郭光与瓷器的缘份是他“求”来的。青年时期少不更事,在父辈的教诲前总是不恰当地自负,老父亲是研究宋朝经济的知名学者,向来观念传统,爱之深、责之切,父子俩南辕北辙地僵持了很多年,本来看似冻结的一根弦忽然在父亲溘然长辞的一晚松懈下来。喝了一夜的酒,喃喃背诵了一夜父亲教授过的唐宋诗词,戾气尽消。从此子承父业地开始研究中国传统,爱瓷器爱得深刻,寻访名师,也曾经遇过骗子。懵懂地频频碰壁之后,研究了一册名为《明清瓷器鉴定》的著作,此后立志要求教于著者耿宝昌之门。
