在金属熔炼、玻璃、陶瓷、铸造、机械热处理等作业时,从温度为1050~2150℃的热源表面辐射出的射线中,70%以上是红外线,还有少量可见光和紫外线。实践证明,红外线和紫外线对人眼组织可以造成伤害。我国冶炼工人及其他行业接触炉窑的工人,长期使用的护目镜是钴兰镜片。这种镜片只能防可见光,看火可以,但不能防红外线和紫外线。据有关部门对国内现使用的钴兰片测试,红外线透过率达96%,紫外线透过率达93%。这就是造成冶炼工人中有些人眼睛晶体混浊,甚至发生白内障的原因。我国于1983年颁布了炉窑护目镜相面罩国标(GB4015—83),其中规定了遮光号1~10号红外线透过率是:780~1300nm为37~0.10%,1300~2000nm为37~0.25%。但是,几年来没有理想的护目镜产品问世,
