在我国新石器时期的岩画中已出现大量的人物形象,其造型古朴、色彩单纯、线条流畅、富有想象力,表现了人们在生产实践和社会生活中的形象和愿望。战国帛画是研究中国人物画的重要文献,让我们看到了最早的中国画原迹。人物形象富有装饰性,以线造型为主,线既起造型作用又起着装饰作用。画面颜色使用了朱砂、铅粉等矿物质颜料,对比强烈,色彩绚丽,具有高度的艺术价值,反映了古代劳动人民的智慧和艺术才能及审美观点。中国人物画始终以其独特的艺术形式,表现人们的生活和社会活动,因其艺术形式适合我国人民群众的审美,具有深厚的群众基础,延续数千年,不断发展,经久不衰。这为当代现实主义水墨人物画艺术的创作和多元发展提供了丰厚的滋养。
