惊悉我们图书馆界的老前辈、第一届中国图书馆学会理事、同济医大教授、专家咨询委员会委员、原图书馆馆长彭明江同志因病医治无效,于1995年12月31日凌晨4时10分逝世,享年91岁。噩耗传来,使我们陷入深深的悲痛之中。 彭老1933年毕业于同济医科大学医学院前期,1935年毕业于武昌文华图书馆学专科学校。此后,他即在图书馆这块园地里辛勤耕耘直到1987年已82岁时才退休。他仍不忘为图书馆做些力所能及的事情,只要身体允许就坚持去图书馆工作,记得1993年4月,他已是88岁高龄了,还到图书馆去上班,他不仅为同济医科大学图书馆的建设和发展作出了突出贡献,而且在图书馆学理论研究领域也尽了自己的最大努力,因而在全国图书馆界享有盛誉。1984年,文化部批示:彭明江同志作为当代图书馆知名人物,被收入《中国名人词典》。彭老的这些光辉业绩,都是有目共睹,有口皆碑的。
