1994年,广西荒山大户县之一,柳州地区的第一荒山大户——来宾县造林灭荒74.3万亩,8月10日顺利通过了自治区造林灭荒检查验收工作队的验收,实现林业用地达标栽植率98％、公路栽植率90.8％、铁路栽植率91.5％,主要河流栽植率86.4％、城乡居民点“四旁”栽植率92.3％、荒山率0.291％。11月11日又通过国家林业部造林灭荒的核查验收,一举摘掉了“荒山大户”的帽子。 消灭荒山,来宾的人民心里明白,这其中凝聚了主管林业的副县长吴乾慧无数的心血。
