This is a 100,000-square-meter commercial and entertainment complex that was designed in the spring of 1992. The building is located in the central business district of Harbin, facing the famous Qiulin Company across the street, surrounded by commercial buildings. Originally a Russian residential area, Russian style architecture has become the architectural tone of this area. Known as the Moscow of the East, Harbin, the European style architecture also spreads throughout the city, and here is also the focus of European style architecture. The building occupies an area of 8,060 square meters, with 700 underground cars, 8 podiums, and about 58,000 square meters, mainly for commercial shopping, dining and entertainment; the top floor is approximately 38,000 square meters, with 27 floors. The commercial activities of Harbin Shopping Mall started from the basement of a food court and communicated with the proposed underground shopping center. The shooting range is located on the second floor underground. The first to sixth floors are for commercial shopping, and the seventh floor is for entertainment. At the top are roof gardens, music cafes, and roller skating rinks. The design tries to contain a very complex and contradictory content that is incompatible with each other, in an orderly manner in the same space. Analysis, organization, and spatial synthesis have become the main process of graphic design. How can a new building in an old neighborhood be in dialogue with the environment? Does the high-rise building have to talk to the old environment? Thinking about the image design of this building is also a struggle. High-rise buildings reflect the material civilization of contemporary mankind, and its ability to integrate with local architectural cultures and acceptance is worthy of architects.
