Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common gastrointestinal disorder characterized by recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort associated with altered bowel movements.It affects 8%-22% of the population in West countries and the prevalence of IBS prevalence is 5%-10% in most Asian communities.
