今年3月21日午夜,几万名心情激动、喜气洋洋的纳米比亚群众和包括世界各国总统、总理在内的两千多名贵宾,汇集在纳米比亚首都温得和克体育场,举行纳米比亚独立大典。22日凌晨,在联合国秘书长德奎利亚尔的主持下,萨姆·丹尼尔·努乔马宣誓就任纳米比亚首任总统。体育场内鼓乐齐鸣,人们载歌载舞,呼喊着努乔马的名字。随后,努乔马站在麦克风前,庄严地向全世界宣布:“非洲最后一块殖民地从现在起获得解放,非洲大陆升起了一颗明亮的新星。”
At midnight on March 21 this year, tens of thousands of excited and beaming Namibian people and more than 2,000 VIP guests, including the world’s presidents and prime ministers, gathered at the Windhoek Stadium in Namibia to hold the Namibian independence ceremony. On the morning of the 22nd, under the auspices of the United Nations Secretary-General de Cuellar, Sam Daniel Nujoma was sworn in as Namibian’s first president. Drums roaming the stadium, people singing and dancing, shouting Nujoma name. Then Nujoma stood before the microphone and solemnly declared to the world: “The last colony of Africa has been liberated from now on and a bright new star has emerged in the African continent.”
