Objective To investigate the characteristics of lymphocyte subsets in children with infectious mononucleosis (IM). Methods Flow cytometry was used to detect the peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets in 46 cases of IM children with acute phase, 42 cases of convalescence, 26 cases of follow-up and 30 cases of normal control group, respectively, compared with the control group. Results The levels of CD3 + and CD8 + cells in acute phase were significantly increased, CD4 + cells were significantly decreased and the ratio of CD4 + / CD8 + cells was significantly decreased (P <0.01). CD4 + cells in recovery phase and CD4 + / CD8 + cells were significantly decreased. CD3 + results no significant difference; follow-up test results compared with the control group no significant difference (P> 0.05). Conclusion The lymphocyte subsets of patients with Epstein-Barr virus (EB) -infected with IM significantly change. It is of clinical significance to detect the changes of lymphocyte subsets in the assessment of cellular immune function, diagnosis and treatment of IM in infants.
