Half past five that afternoon, I go to get off work on time, went straight to Patty’s office. Homer has been installed in a purple cage dedicated to cats and scribbled “Homer Cooper” on the top of the sealing tape. I looked in the cage, but since Homer was black all over her eyes and without eyes, the only thing I could see was the white, tapered plastic collar around his neck. All, including Patty, waved good-bye to us almost to tears. Homer is silent on his way home. This gives me some worry, and this is just the beginning. In the following ten years, I will constantly give birth to many unaccompanied worries. There is not much time spent dealing with cats as I grow up. The knowledge I know about cats comes mainly from Patty and my own experiences of feeding Scarlett and Vashti. Both Scarlett and Vashti hated their cages, and at the moment I put them in their cages, they screamed like angry monkeys, especially Vashti
