(a) China’s watch industry is a newly established industrial sector that was established after the liberation. For more than two decades, China’s watch industry has grown from scratch to small, with rapid development. Currently, except for the Tibet region, all provinces have watch factories. There are altogether more than sixty or seventy watch factories in the country. The annual output has reached more than twenty million. It should be said that the scale of production has been considerable. With the development of watch industrial production and continuous improvement of labor productivity, the cost of products has also dropped significantly, but the market sales price is very high. For example, Shanghai’s Shanghai brand watches each cost 11.09 yuan, while the other selling price is 125 yuan; Tianjin Dongfeng brand watches cost 15.78 yuan each, and the other selling price is 120 yuan; Beijing’s Shuangling brand watches cost 18.33 yuan each. Sold separately for 120 yuan, and so on. If the price of a watch is so high for a long period of time, is it consistent with an objective economic law? Is it profitable or bad for the four modernizations? It seems necessary to discuss it.
