Lucy Snow, the heroine of Violet, is a new female image who still insists on employment and insists on self-education in a lonely situation and in unfavorable social environment. Charlotte Bronte’s novel, seemingly portrayed romantic love, is actually to explore how women do not love in the Victorian era. Lucy’s choice is not easy, because she is a marginalized man and a marginalized man who combines the old lady, self-serving and literary young women. Starting with discussing Lucy’s multiple marginal identities, the article analyzes how Lucy, through professional development and artistic gaze, resists suppressed, imprisoned and marginalized fates, shapes a new type of female self and creates a new desire language.
