众所周知,词汇是语言的建筑材料。如果词汇贫乏,词义含混,就会造成理解和表达的障碍。英语语言学家D.A.Willkins曾说过:“没有语法,人们表达的事物寥寥无几,而没有词汇,人们则无法表达任何事物。”由此看出,词汇是语言的基础,离开高效率的词汇学习,知识技能的掌握便无从谈起,交际能力的培养也将成为无源之水,外语教学也就无效益可言。语言学家博林格曾说过:任何一个掌握了一门外语的人都清楚的知道,外语学习的主要时间都是花在掌握这门语言的词汇上面。由此可见,掌握大量的词汇是学好外语的基础和前提,而掌握词汇是中学生最大的难点,理所当然,词汇教学成了英语教学中的一大难题。
As we all know, vocabulary is the building material of language. If the vocabulary is poor and word meanings are vague, it will cause obstacles to understanding and expression. The English linguist DAWillkins once said: “Without grammar, people express very few things. Without vocabulary, people can’t express anything.” From this it can be seen that vocabulary is the basis of language, leaving high efficiency. Vocabulary learning, the mastery of knowledge and skills will no longer be talked about, the cultivation of communicative competence will also become a passive water, foreign language teaching will be ineffective. The linguist Bolinger once said that anyone who masters a foreign language clearly knows that the main time for learning a foreign language is to spend on the vocabulary of the language. It can be seen that mastering a large number of vocabulary is the basis and prerequisite for learning a good foreign language. Mastering vocabulary is the biggest difficulty for middle school students. Naturally, vocabulary teaching has become a major problem in English teaching.
