埃德加·斯诺是美国著名新闻记者、作家和文史学家,中美人民的友好使者。他所撰写的《红星照耀中国》、即中译本《西行漫记》于20世纪30年代出版后,在国内外获得了极大的轰动,在国际社会上也产生了重大影响。在当时的社会背景下,报道和洞悉中国事态的外国记者还有很多,为什么斯诺敢于突破重重危险,深入红区,将其真实的历史和发展情况公诸于世?为什么他敢于在客观事实面前坚持己见,在中国研究方面开辟出一条不同于前人的思想和道路,从而致力于向美国及世界公众介绍和解释红区中国?本文通过对斯诺的代表性专著《西行漫记》内容的解读,从内外因素两方面相结合的辩证关系中,重点剖析人们一直所关注的埃德加.斯诺获得成功的原因。
