On March 30,2008,Yongjia Kun Qu Opera Troupe was invited to stage three-day performances for villagers in Pudong Village,Shangtang Town,Yongjia County,in celebration of the completion of the clan genealogy of the village. The troupe was disbanded in 1984 and gradually forgotten by local people. Today it performs again and out of its expectation,its performances attracted crowds of audience from nearby villages. The program that was staged is “Quan Fu Ji”(persuading the husband),which was one of the four classical programs in the repertory of “Nan Xi”(south China opera). The troupe later toured nearby counties and performed several classical episodes as part of the TV documentary,a protection project sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of China. Inaddition,it will also present 20 more performances for educational purposes in schools and colleges later this year. The troupe plans to add one classical program and one new program into its repertory every year. So far,the troupe employs 43 staffs and crews.
