陆军弹道导弹防御先进技术计划正在研制的部件和分系统有可能彻底改革对洲际导弹和潜射导弹的防御。 此技术的目的是通过摧毁刚发射尚处于助推段的洲际导弹和潜射导弹而制止一次进攻,这样,可使交战发生在进攻一方的大气层内,避免拦截发生在美国上空的大气层内。 先进技术中心的官员们认为,这项技术可望在3—5年内具备用非核弹头在中段弹道很远的空间拦截洲际导弹的能力。在此技术的基础上,也就有可能实现助推段的拦截。
The components and subsystems being developed by the Advanced Technology Program of the Army Ballistic Missile Defense have the potential to revolutionize the defenses against intercontinental and submarine-launched missiles. The aim of this technology is to stop an offensive by destroying intercontinental and submarine-launched missiles just launched while still in the lead, thus allowing the fighting to take place in the atmosphere of the offensive side and to prevent interceptions from occurring in the atmosphere above the United States. Officials at the Advanced Technology Center believe the technology is expected to have the capability to block intercontinental missiles in non-nuclear warheads within a very long distance from the middle-level ballistic missiles in 3-5 years. On the basis of this technology, it is also possible to achieve boost segment interception.
