万佛山·侗寨风景名胜区位于湘、桂、黔三省区交界处的湖南怀化市通道侗族自治县境内,由鬼斧神工造就的丹霞地貌区和颇具神秘色彩的百里侗文化风情线,以及挽救红军生死存亡的通道转兵会址——恭城书院组成,其8大景区、46处景点和510余处地质遗迹,构成了令人称绝的人间奇景!核心景区万佛山主峰距通道县城25公里,山顶海拔635米。据传,这片山地早就是一处修身养性的风水宝地,古时曾建有七十二庵,每年阴历二十九观音菩萨生日时,各洞法师赶来聚会为观音祝寿,听法祖讲经。来者正好为9999位,称万佛会,这一带地域便叫“万佛山”了。
