日本电信电话公司(NTT)已制订了长期通信网整备计划,在2015年以前要在全国的营业所和家庭中接通光纤电缆的用户线路,提供以图像为中心的高级通信服务。目前正进行的数字网建设计划将到1995年告一段落,此后20年间要投资总额25兆～30兆日元在全国建造“高速宽频带综合网”。当完成时,在普通家庭中也能利用高清晰度电视(HDTV)图像检索图像数据库,一些企业也可利用它构成高清晰度、多地点之间的电视会议系统等。
NTT has formulated a long-term communications network readiness plan to bring subscriber lines of fiber optic cables through offices and homes nationwide by 2015 to provide advanced, image-centric communication services. The ongoing digital network construction plan will come to an end in 1995, after 20 years to invest a total of 25 trillion ~ 30 trillion yen in the country to build “high-speed broadband integrated network.” When complete, the image database can also be retrieved using high-definition television (HDTV) images in the average home, and some businesses can also use it to make high-definition, multi-site videoconferencing systems.
