我国有4.8亿青少年,他们是新世纪有中国特色社会主义事业的接班人,是祖国统一大业的生力军。值此世纪交替之时,在广大青少年中开展一次以祖国宝岛台湾为主题的爱国主义宣传教育活动,对于引导和帮助广大青少年加强对台湾作为祖国不可分割的一部分的历史、现状和未来的全面了解,深入学习和领会党和政府的对台方针政策,彻底认清以李登辉为首的台湾当局蓄意破坏祖国主权和领土完整,企图把台湾从中国分裂出去的本质,具有重要而深远的意义。为此,共青团中央、中共中央台湾工作办公室、教育部、全国青联、全国少工委、中央电视台决定联合开展“祖国宝岛台湾在我心中”大型主题宣传教育活动。为推动各地扎实有效地搞好这项活动,各主办部委特提出如下要隶:
