红优2号系新疆八一农学院和昌吉园艺场用3单—4和久比利配制而成的杂交种,1982年自治区农作物品种委员会已正式通过并命名。它属中晚熟种,生育期95—100天(开花到成熟38—42天);植株紧凑,生长势旺,抗性强,易座果且整齐;瓜椭圆形,皮色深绿,质地细脆爽口,果实折光糖含量10.3—11.0％,籽少,褐麻色,在良好的水肥和土壤条件下,平均单瓜重5.6公斤,高者可达10多公斤。
