银灰杨树干端直,材质优良,树形美观,生长迅速,叶色随季节而变化,由浅红转鲜缘,入秋为深红,叶柄扁而长,迎风飘舞,姿态优美,且抗旱抗病,是缘化庭园,营造防护林带的理想树种.但因生理特性关系,一般扦插成活率低.一九六四年,我连开始育苗繁殖;一九六五年,在总结上一年的经验基础上,闯过了技术关,亩播量由300—400克降低到47克,保苗率达到95%以上,平均亩产苗2万多株,苗高达80—100厘米,最高180厘米.
