The effect of parenteral nutrition (PN) on patients with malignant carcinoma was reviewed in this paper. PN support was very necessary and useful for the cancer patients during chemotherapy, which could improve the patients’ nutritional condition, attenuate the body weight loss and decrease chemotherapy side efffect of the gut. That PN could stimulate tumor growth was lack of evidence. The nitrogen and fat should be enough for these patients and the regimen should be balanced and individualized according the patient’s body surface, activity score and nutritional status. That large dose of VitC, B and A could inhibit the tumor growth was controversial. The clinical surveillance to patients receiving PN should be stressed and EN or free diet was encouraged as the gut could be used.
