Li Wei-cheng, chairman and chief executive officer of The Dow Chemical Company, said recently that this transformation is expected to bring six surprises in the next ten years as the Chinese economy is now in an age-to-transit transition from export-driven to consumer-driven. Lee believes that China’s reform and opening up the first 30 years has allowed China to grow into the world’s largest exporter, but this export-oriented model is difficult to continue. As the world’s second-largest economy, China is making every effort to shift its economy toward a more sustainable and healthier development model. Lee Wai Shing firmly optimistic about China’s economic restructuring prospects, which will bring great market opportunities for Dow Chemical, especially in the field of environmental protection. He predicts that by 2022, the middle class in China will reach 630 million, which will result in the rapid expansion and upgrading of consumer demand and will lay the foundation for the success of China’s economic restructuring.
